Facing challenges with unwavering determination, I turned trials into triumphs! With resilience, adaptability and the confidence to turn dreams into reality, I created a beautiful, fulfilling life that I am grateful for.
For my entire life, I have always believed that if I work hard enough, I can achieve anything I set my mind to. This mindset came from my father, a world-class pole vaulter, who taught me to be competitive with myself and reach for the stars, never setting limits on what I was capable of.
My earliest dream was to become a ballerina. This dream fueled my determination, leading me to major in ballet at the University of Utah. After college, I earned a scholarship to join the Portland Ballet, which brought me to Portland. In 1978, I ran for Miss Portland, wanting to meet new people and become a part of the community—to my surprise, I won! This accomplishment allowed me to start developing roots in the community and continue to pursue my passion. I danced from the age of 8 until I was about 30. Achieving my dream of becoming a professional dancer was a significant milestone, and it filled me with pride and fulfillment.
However, when I became a mother, my priorities shifted, and my goal became stability and supporting the needs of my family. Pivoting, I became a mortgage loan clerk at Benjamin Franklin, a historic loan place in downtown Portland. This job marked the beginning of my long career in the real estate market. Over the years, I worked for Coldwell Banker Commercial and in the title insurance business, always aiming to offer my children a secure and stable life.
Being a single mother was challenging, but I had the support of my parents, who moved to Portland and helped. I balanced multiple jobs while raising my children, Nick and Noelle. They have always been my motivation to keep going and striving for more.
For years, I worked as an escrow officer, helping close thousands of real estate deals and bring dreams to life! It was very rewarding and allowed me to take care of my kids. Once they grew up and began lives of their own, I faced yet another shift in goals.
Back in 1994, I had a brief stint working as a real estate agent after an unexpected layoff. I loved helping clients through the entirety of the transaction process rather than just with the title and escrow portion. However, with kids to provide for, I relied on the stable paycheck that title and escrow work provided. Throughout the years, I always remained interested in one day becoming a real estate agent again.
As I became a more seasoned professional in title and escrow, I noticed a shift in how I was treated and the opportunities I received. It felt like I was gradually being pushed out to make room for younger professionals. That’s when it clicked! I could use my years of industry experience to start a business of my own.
In the beginning, I worked with new construction as a listing agent for a new subdivision. This provided me with a fresh start, requiring me to constantly learn and adapt to the ever-changing needs of my clients. This was the start of an exciting new chapter where, once again, I can chase my dreams without limits! I strive to provide excellent service, providing the caring and knowledgeable support needed to make confident, life-changing decisions.
Achieving my dreams as a dancer was only the beginning; ensuring my family's well-being by creating a successful career in real estate has been my greatest accomplishment. I’m very proud of my children and grandchildren—they remind me every day how important it is to help families create stability and financial security through real estate that can create an impact for generations!
When not working, I enjoy dancing, golfing, deep-sea fishing, watching my grandchildren’s lacrosse games, cheerleading, football, and basketball, and, of course, being with my family!
My background as an escrow officer has equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of the entire process, which is invaluable as a real estate agent. I've been part of closing thousands of real estate transactions, seeing what the buyers and sellers needed, and observing the actions of listing and selling agents. I pride myself on my ability to listen, learning the nuances of every client’s needs to create a tailored experience!
Passionate about empowering people of all ages, I earned my Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES) certification. With experience helping people upgrade, downsize, handle divorce settlements, new construction, and more, I have a diverse range of experiences to guide every client on their unique journeys. It is my goal to make a positive impact by helping you navigate the transaction process with confidence! Even after the transaction is over, I am committed to supporting you in the next chapter as your REALTOR® for life!
Sincerely,
Patty Standring
